Badminton player Jonatan "Jojo" Christie is focused on improving his world ranking after winning the men's singles title at the 2025 Korea Open. He is currently ranked sixth in the world with 73,744 points.
Jojo won the BWF super 500 class tournament after defeating Danish player, Anders Antonesen, with 21-10, 15-21, and 21-17 in the final at Suwon Gymnasium, Suwon, Sunday.
"I've been lagging behind lately due to poor results. I want to get as many points as possible for the rest of the year," Jojo said in a PBSI statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
Having struggled with injuries, the 28-year-old Indonesian badminton athlete feels that winning the title in Korea this time is very meaningful because it increases motivation and self-confidence even though he never imagined he could win it.
"The Super 500 title was beyond my wildest dreams after struggling with injuries for so long . It took a lot of time to recover, then get sick again, recover again, find my confidence, and find my motivation. And today it paid off, thank God," said Jojo.
