Land regularization demanded during AMLO's visit to Tijuana

Tijuana, November 10. The residents of Terrazas del Valle, sections 1 and 2; La Morita, sections 1 and 2; and Lomas del Valle, who bought a lot 30 years ago from the state government's (PAN) housing developer, cannot legalize their homes because the land was owned by the Rojo Gómez ejido (communal land ) , and after years of litigation, a judge ratified the ejido ownership. Today, they were the largest contingent waiting for President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in front of the Morelos barracks to present their problem. But they were unable to speak with him again.

From 7 a.m., when the morning press conference began, contingents of residents arrived at the headquarters, and by the time López Obrador left, just after 10 a.m., some 1,500 people with various problems were waiting for him . He didn't stop to greet them; he just raised his hand from the van that was taking him to Tecate, the next stop on his three-day tour of Baja California.

"President! President!" some chanted, even alternating with the displays of discontent that brought them there. One of the settler leaders recalled that during a previous visit, the president had promised to resolve the land ownership issue and a working group had been set up; "Progress was made, but the process wasn't completed."

Even Román Meyer, the head of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development, attended one of the meetings, where the dispute with the Rojo Gómez ejido (communal land) was followed up on. The ejido claimed ownership and, after years of litigation, a judge ruled in its favor.
