Australian national basketball player Luke Roland Paul was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the FIBA U-16 Asia Cup 2025 after leading his country to a fourth consecutive championship title at the MBank Arena in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
According to the FIBA website quoted in Jakarta, Monday, the guard performed brilliantly in the final match against China by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds , and nine assists .
His contribution led to a landslide victory for Australia, 85-58, and a record-breaking four-peat in tournament history.
Throughout the tournament, the 6-foot-1 player averaged 14.8 points per game (ppg), 7.3 rebounds per game (rpg), and 6.3 assists per game (apg).
These statistics confirm his role as the driving force behind the Kangaroo Country team's performance, which extended their unbeaten record in the event to 23 matches since 2015.
The MVP award also placed Paul on the tournament's "All-Star Five" roster, alongside teammate Will Hamilton, two Chinese players, Zhang Yizhaojie and Zhang Ziyi, and New Zealand's Tawhiri Cate.
Luke Paul's success adds to the growing list of young Australian stars shining at the Asian level. This MVP title is seen as a stepping stone to his future international career.
