Mexico City , April 21.- The Attorney General's Office (FGR) accused former Attorney General Jesus Murillo Karam of "being part of a criminal enterprise" that committed "crimes against humanity" and "cemented the historical truth of torture and forced disappearance" in the investigation related to the disappearance of the 43 Ayotzinapa student teachers.
During a hearing held at the Federal Criminal Justice Center located in the southern prison, and held before Judge Felipe de Jesús Delgadillo Padierna, Murillo Karam's defense team asked the justice system not to prosecute the former official for the crimes of torture, forced disappearance, and collusion with public servants, pointing out that the Federal Public Ministry has not provided any evidence to prove that Murillo gave instructions for acts of torture or violations of the law to be committed in the investigation of the Ayotzinapa case, since according to the thesis of the representatives of the FGR, during the press conference that their client offered on January 27, 2015, he would have given "secret instructions" to Tomas Zerón and others.
Arguments
In their argument, the representatives of the Attorney General's Office (FGR) pointed out that Felipe "N," who was presented as one of the participants in the disappearance of the 43 students, was a victim of widespread "acts of torture" that were committed during the investigation into the Ayotzinapa case.
They also pointed out that acts of widespread torture were committed against other detainees identified as alleged members of Guerreros Unidos, and that they appear in a video released during the press conference in which Murillo Karam alluded to the so-called "historical truth" of the Iguala case.
