Musica Team wins 7 gold medals at BWF World Senior Championships

The Musica team, comprising Indonesian badminton legends, won seven gold medals, one silver medal, and six bronze medals at the Amazing Thailand-Pattaya BWF World Senior Championships 2025 at the Eastern National Sports Training Center, Pattaya, from September 7-14.

"It's not as agile as before, but these former players are all very enthusiastic about performing at their best to carry the Red and White flag on the world stage," said team manager Aseng in an official statement on Tuesday.

The hero of the 1984 Thomas Cup, Hastomo Arbi, contributed two gold medals, from the U65 men's singles after defeating Hiroyuki Koike of Japan.

Then, together with Simbarsono Sutanto in the U65 men's doubles, Hastomo again won gold after defeating Garry Silvester/Loke Poh Wong (Australia).

"Hopefully, our victory as senior players can inspire and motivate the national training players to work hard and achieve the highest possible results," said Hastomo.

Two gold medals were also awarded to Hendra Setiawan, from the U40 men's doubles pair with Tony Gunawan (USA) after defeating Boonsak Ponsana/Jakrapan Thanathiratham (Thailand), 21-18, 21-16.

Then, together with Debby Susanto, Hendra won the U35 mixed doubles gold by defeating Nawut Thanathiratham/Peeraya Munkitamorn (Thailand), 21-5, 21-9.

"We seniors can still fight to win. The unwillingness to lose remains even though we're retired and no longer young," said Hendra.
