Ensenada, September 9.– Martha Odette Román Ibáñez assumed the position of head of the Ensenada Social Welfare Department this Tuesday, replacing Ayerim Magallón Granados, who was dismissed last week after reporting alleged irregularities in the management of Branch 33 resources.
In her morning press conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum responded to the controversy: "The case of the officials who approved Branch 33 projects outside of guidelines in Ensenada can be brought before the Secretariat of Anti-Corruption and Good Government, and from there, it can be referred to the Superior Audit Office for its own audit."
For his part, the state's secretary general, Alfredo Álvarez Cárdenas, confirmed that "there is an investigation into the approved works."
Román Ibáñez, who served as the deputy administrative director of the same department, stated during her inauguration that she will act with "transparency, legality, honesty, and efficiency," principles that the mayor claims guide her administration, but which were precisely the ones Magallón Granados claimed were violated before her dismissal.
