Technology company Nvidia announced plans to invest up to US$100 Rp1,663 trillionbillion in OpenAI, as part of an agreement to build large-scale data centers to train and run artificial intelligence (AI) models.
As reported by Tech Crunch on Tuesday, the two companies stated that they had signed a document of agreement to deliver Nvidia's system with a capacity of 10 gigawatts, enough to supply electricity to millions of homes, which will be used as the next generation infrastructure for OpenAI.
The deal could potentially help OpenAI reduce its dependence on Microsoft, its largest investor and primary supplier of cloud computing services.
Last January, Microsoft announced changes to its partnership with OpenAI, allowing the ChatGPT developer to build additional AI infrastructure with other partners. Since then, OpenAI has collaborated with various parties on AI data center projects, including Stargate.
