Mexico City, April 21.- Former Benito Juárez district chief Christian Damián von Roehrich de la Isla, allegedly involved in the so-called real estate cartel in that district, was arrested when he attempted to enter the United States illegally through McAllen, Texas.
Investigative agents from the Attorney General's Office (FGJ) of Mexico City traveled to Reynosa, Tamaulipas, to execute the arrest warrant against him for illegal misuse of powers and authority by a public servant.
At the border bridge, he was handed over to ministerial agents of the Attorney General's Office to be transferred to Mexico City and admitted to the Northern Men's Preventive Prison, where he will be placed at the disposal of the supervisory judge who requested his release.
The former coordinator of the PAN party in the Mexico City Congress was also charged on December 8 for allegedly committing this crime. A day later, an immigration alert and an Interpol red notice were issued for his location.
The FGJ reported that investigations related to the possible corruption network in the real estate sector identified that the now detained individual, as head of the district from 2015 to 2018, possibly engaged in illicit financial activities.
The former congressman allegedly led a corruption network, which is believed to have been responsible for the issuance of illegal construction permits, as well as violent evictions and extortion of business owners, through the solicitation of cash bribes and/or apartments, according to the prosecutor's office.
Builder arrested in Adolfo Prieto
On another note, the agency announced the arrest of Roberto N for his probable involvement in the crimes of generic fraud, impersonation of a profession, and liability of owners and property.
He mentioned that he built a development on Adolfo Prieto Street in the Acacias neighborhood with the authorization of the district, increasing the number of apartments from 11 to 55 and from seven to eight stories. He also signed as the project manager without having a professional engineering license and without serving as the project manager.
