Persekat Tegal opened the new season of the Pegadaian Championship by defeating hosts PSMS Medan with a score of 1-0 in a match played at the North Sumatra Main Stadium, Deli Serdang, Friday.
This result puts Persekat in second place in the Championship West Group standings with three points, while PSMS sits in tenth place with zero points.
The hosts PSMS tried to take the initiative in attack from the start, but they had difficulty breaking down Persekat's tight defense.
As time went on, Persekat was able to counter PSMS's play and attempted to exert pressure several times. However, I Putu Gede's attacks also failed to yield a goal.
PSMS was then forced to rely more heavily on counterattacks from its wingers. However, Persekat's defense was still able to overcome the threats.
A similar situation repeated itself several times, but neither team could create any truly dangerous chances. The score remained 0-0 at halftime.
