The Chairman of the All Indonesia Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir, stated that Indonesia is the first country in Asia to implement the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system in the second-tier football league.
"We are the only league 2 in Asia that uses VAR," said Erick Thohir after the PSMS Medan match against Persekat Tegal in Medan, Friday.
He said the implementation of the VAR system in the second-tier league was a development in the history of Indonesian football.
Meanwhile, Erick Thohir, accompanied by North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution, stated that Indonesia is the fifth country to implement the VAR system in the second-tier league.
In fact, he said, the development of Indonesian football in the second tier league surpasses the second tier of English football in the English Premier League.
