Mexico City, July 31. The Mexican peso ended a six-month winning streak against the dollar. The Mexican currency closed July with a 0.55 percent depreciation against the U.S. currency, standing at 18.8680 pesos per spot dollar.
At the end of July, the national currency paused its six consecutive monthly gains as the dollar strengthened globally amid the tariff debate, monetary policy back-and-forth, and an increase in risk aversion.
So far this year, the Mexican peso has appreciated 9.6 percent against the dollar, driven by the significant gain it had recorded since January, which was interrupted by the decline in July.
On the last day of the seventh month of the year, the national currency remained practically sideways against the dollar, trading at a maximum of 18.8710 units and a minimum of 18.7750 units, closing with a daily depreciation of 0.06 percent, following the rebound it registered when the agreement between Donald Trump , President of the United States, and Claudia Sheinbaum, President of Mexico, on tariff matters was announced.
