PT PLN Indonesia Power Bali Power Generation Business Unit Gilimanuk Gas Power Plant presents an innovative waste management program entitled Mesatua Bali (Managing Waste for a Sustainable Bali Nature) to support sustainable energy transition and community empowerment.
PLN Indonesia Power President Director Bernadus Sudarmanta, in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday, said this flagship program not only addresses environmental issues, but also paves the way for social and economic transformation in Bali's coastal areas.
"Starting from the challenges of high volumes of port waste, household waste, coastal abrasion, deforestation of national parks, and limited economic access for vulnerable communities, Mesatua Bali presents a community-based solution," he said.
According to him, through a circular economy approach, this program processes organic and inorganic waste.
The organic waste utilized is household and home industry waste which is processed into multipurpose liquid organic fertilizer.
Meanwhile, inorganic waste focuses on diaper waste which is used as a growing medium for fruit and vegetable seedlings.
"Both types of waste are processed by utilizing the company's production waste in the form of demineralized reject water," he explained.
Bernadus continued, saying that the innovation of utilizing demineralized water waste and diaper waste as planting media is a new breakthrough that is being implemented for the first time in Jembrana Regency, Bali.
