As part of the preparations, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, arrived in Doha this morning to participate in the summit. He was received at Hamad International Airport by Director of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim bin Yousef Fakhro.
President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, also arrived in Doha to participate in the summit. He was received by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Mauritanian Ambassador to Doha, Mohamed Mohamed Abdullah Babana.
On Saturday, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari said the summit will discuss a draft joint statement condemning the Israeli attack and formulating a unified Arab and Islamic response. He noted that the timing of the summit reflects "the broad Arab and Islamic solidarity with the State of Qatar in confronting the cowardly Israeli aggression, and these countries' categorical rejection of the state terrorism practiced by Israel."
On Tuesday, the Israeli army launched an airstrike on the Hamas leadership in Doha, a move condemned by Qatar, which affirmed its right to respond to the aggression that killed a member of the Qatari internal security forces. Meanwhile, Hamas announced that its negotiating delegation, led by its head in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya, survived the assassination attempt, which killed his office director, Jihad Labad, his son, Humam al-Hayya, and three aides.
