Querétaro, October 13.—Referring to the relationship she will maintain with the opposition during her administration, President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that she will engage with the people. “From my perspective, that's what the Ministry of the Interior is for. It has the role of speaking, if necessary, with opposition groups. But it also requires a relationship of mutual respect. There are different projects, and that shouldn't scare anyone. The important thing is that there is democracy.”
At a press conference held as part of his tour to launch the Mexico-Querétaro train project, he said, "The important thing is that we can talk and debate with everyone. We can have different points of view in an environment of respect and diversity. And people tell us why they vote."
Sheinbaum also noted that as part of the security strategy, coordination with state security forces will be intensified to strengthen efforts to combat criminal groups. The goal is to develop a strategy of protection, for example, in Guanajuato, to reduce the level of violence.
In this regard, Governor Mauricio Kuri, who participated in the conference, mentioned that several criminals fleeing Guanajuato were recently murdered in Querétaro. He emphasized that he immediately received a call from the Secretary of Security and Citizen Participation, Omar García Harfuch, requesting information.
"I was very pleased," because it is a sign of greater coordination, as he also established contact with the state prosecutor and the state security secretary.
