This came during a joint press conference he held with Trump after their bilateral meeting in Aylesbury, England.
Starmer affirmed that his country is ready to "shape" this century with the United States, as they did in the last. He added that security issues remain the cornerstone of bilateral relations, along with their technological partnership, and noted that they are "united" with the United States in defense and peace.
Regarding the Middle East, the British Prime Minister said: "We are working together to end the humanitarian catastrophe in the region, deliver aid, release the hostages (Israeli prisoners in Gaza), and ultimately return Israel and the region to a comprehensive plan that can achieve peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians."

Regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war, Starmer confirmed that they are working together to end the killings in Ukraine. He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin recently showed his "true face" by carrying out the largest attack since the beginning of the invasion and violating NATO airspace. He said, "Today we discussed how to strengthen our defense, provide more support to Ukraine, and decisively increase pressure on Putin to persuade him to agree to a lasting peace agreement."
During the Q&A portion of the press conference, Starmer was asked: "What would recognizing the state of Palestine actually achieve? Isn't this a political gesture to appease your party members?" He confirmed that they had also discussed this issue during his meeting with Trump, adding: "We completely agree on the need for peace and a roadmap. The situation in Gaza is unbearable. This is part of the peace plan that we are working on intensively."
"Not only did we discuss this this morning, but our teams are also working together on the need to address the issue of recognition," Starmer continued. "This is part of a comprehensive package that we hope will move us from the terrible situation we are currently in, to a viable Palestinian state, with a secure and stable Israel, which is what we currently lack."
