Supporting trans women in Tijuana with "warm food"


 Tijuana, March 8. Esther Morales Guzmán, or Doña Esther as she is known to many, and director of the "Comida Calientita" project, decided to celebrate International Women's Day by cooking for trans women at the Jardín de las Mariposas migrant shelter.

“ I want to pour all my energy into the kitchen , into a dish that can remind us of our family, our lives, and that, when you finish eating, gives you energy, makes you think differently,” is the message she wants to convey to the people at the shelter through her dishes.

Doña Esther cooked a noodle soup with chicken and rice, assuring that with this simple dish she wanted trans women to have a memorable time tasting the food.

In a makeshift camp on Ingeniero Fernando Sánchez Ayala Street in the Castillo neighborhood, Doña Esther has been cooking under a tarp for two months , after being forced to leave the establishment where she worked for sever
