Tijuana, August 28. Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda reported on the aid provided through the Youth Institute and the Ministry of Education to students in Baja California, highlighting that 121,383 grants have been awarded to high school students and 3,914 to college students.
"We have invested approximately 130 million pesos to benefit young people so they can continue their studies, preventing them from dropping out of school and allowing them to continue developing and cultivating their dreams and goals," he emphasized.
He assured that efforts have been made to guarantee the well-being and retention of 275,000 students in the state's various educational centers.
José Francisco Molina, general director of the Youth Institute, reported that during the current administration, support for students has increased, with the expectation that more than 6,850 scholarships for young people (JOBEC) will be awarded this year, an increase compared to the 700 annually awarded during previous administrations.
He added that with these scholarships, high school students could access financial incentives of two thousand pesos and 2,500 pesos for college students.
Along the same lines, he mentioned that another program is the Comprehensive School Transportation System (COMUNDER 2024) , which has more than 30 routes serving students in Mexicali, Tijuana, Tecate, Rosarito Beach, San Felipe, and San Quintín. The service is expected to begin in the municipality of Ensenada in September.
