The Merah Putih Village Cooperative in Jember exports coffee to three countries

The Merah Putih Sidomulyo Village Cooperative in Jember Regency, East Java, launched its first coffee exports to three countries, namely Brunei Darussalam, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

"From a village on the slopes of Gumitir, the Red and White cooperative successfully launched its first export of coffee products to three countries," said Sidomulyo Village Head, Kamiluddin, in the local village on Sunday.

The export was facilitated by the Surabaya Export Center, an extension of the Ministry of Trade, and the process was a follow-up to business matching that had been verified through Inaexport, the Ministry of Trade's official business directory.

"This shows that exports are proof that village cooperatives can compete in the international market," he said.

He said that this achievement was not just a trade transaction, it was not only about coffee, but about trust that villages could manage cooperatives professionally, transparently, and globally oriented.

The Merah Putih Sidomulyo village cooperative was previously designated as one of eight national pilot cooperatives under the guidance of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs through the Revolving Fund Management Institute (LPDB).

The cooperative has six mandatory business units: a clinic, a pharmacy, logistics, savings and loans, basic necessities, and coffee warehousing. Within these businesses, coffee is a leading product that has now successfully penetrated the international market.
