displacement of civilians
The Civil Defense in Gaza said that Israel is seeking to destabilize residential neighborhoods in Gaza City, especially those densely populated with civilians.
He added in a statement: "The occupation is deliberately bombing some homes and residential areas within these neighborhoods with the aim of forcing their residents to flee towards the central and southern Gaza Strip, without regard for the tragic humanitarian conditions the residents are experiencing."
He noted that he had received appeals from Palestinian families being warned to evacuate their homes, stressing that "they are finding it extremely difficult to find shelter inside Gaza City, and are forced within a few hours to return to their homes, which were damaged by the destruction of adjacent residential buildings, amidst significant risks to their lives."
He continued, "The Israeli occupation's continued implementation of its plan to force civilians in Gaza City to flee their homes to camps lacking even the most basic necessities of life is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. We call on the free world to break its silence and compel the Israeli occupation to halt its plan to displace civilians."
"The worst humanitarian situation"
In this context, Doctors Without Borders reported on Friday that the humanitarian and medical conditions in the Gaza Strip have reached "the worst imaginable" due to the genocide Israel has been committing against Palestinians for nearly two years.
In a statement, Ahmed Abu Warda, the organization's director of medical activities at Nasser Hospital, said that the general situation in the Gaza Strip is "catastrophic."
He explained that all hospitals that are still partially operating are struggling to cope with the large number of patients and wounded, hospital vacancies, and shortages of supplies.
Abu Warda confirmed the shortage of medical supplies throughout the Gaza Strip, and that the wounded and those suffering from chronic diseases are struggling to obtain their medications.
He added, "We have reached the worst situation imaginable, both humanitarian and medical. The health situation in the Gaza Strip is catastrophic."
He described Israel's demand to evacuate the entire city of Gaza as "tragic," noting that a large percentage of Palestinians in Gaza live in the city and know they have nowhere else to go.
He stressed that all Palestinians in Gaza are currently struggling to provide basic needs, from water to food.
With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt the operation.
The genocide left 64,718 Palestinians martyred, 163,859 wounded, most of them children and women, hundreds of thousands displaced, and a famine that claimed the lives of 411 Palestinians, including 142 children.
