The UAE summons Israel's deputy ambassador to condemn the "cowardly" attack in Doha and Netanyahu's statements.

The UAE News Agency (WAM) reported that “Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, summoned the Israeli Deputy Ambassador to the UAE, David Ahad Horsandy, and conveyed to him the UAE’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the blatant and cowardly Israeli attack that targeted the sisterly State of Qatar, and of the aggressive statements issued by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”

The Minister stressed that "this reckless attack constitutes a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, a serious assault on international law and the United Nations Charter, and an irresponsible escalation that threatens regional and international security and stability."

The UAE stressed, according to WAM, that “the security and stability of the sisterly State of Qatar is an integral part of the security and stability of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and that any attack on a Gulf state represents an attack on the joint Gulf security system,” warning that “the continuation of the aggressive and provocative approach undermines the chances of achieving stability and pushes the region towards extremely dangerous paths, and establishes a reality that cannot be tolerated or accepted.”

Broadcasting Authority: Summoning the Israeli Ambassador

Earlier on Friday, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation revealed that the UAE had summoned Israeli Ambassador Yossi Sheli for a reprimand, following the Israeli attack on Qatar last Tuesday.

The authority stated that "the Israeli ambassador to the United Arab Emirates was summoned for reprimand over the Israeli attack on Qatar," adding, "Following this week's attack on the Hamas leadership in Qatar, the UAE issued a statement condemning it, describing it as a treacherous act, and stressing that it stands with Qatar."

UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed arrived in Doha the day after the Israeli aggression and met with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad in a show of solidarity.

On Tuesday, Israel launched an airstrike on Hamas's leadership in Doha, and subsequently vowed to attack the movement's leaders "everywhere."

Qatar condemned the Israeli attack, describing it as "state terrorism," and affirmed that it reserved the right to respond to the aggression, which resulted in the death of a member of the Qatari internal security forces.

Meanwhile, Hamas announced that its negotiating delegation, led by its head in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya, survived an assassination attempt, which killed his office director, Jihad Labad, his son, Humam al-Hayya, and three bodyguards: Abdullah Abdul Wahid, Moamen Hassouna, and Ahmed Abdul Malik.

The attack on Qatar came despite its mediation role, alongside Egypt and with US participation, in indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel aimed at reaching a prisoner exchange agreement and a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

This attack reflects Israel's expansion of its regional aggression. Last June, it launched an attack on Iran, and for nearly two years has been committing genocide in Gaza and attacks in the occupied West Bank, while carrying out airstrikes on Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.

With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.

The Israeli genocide left 64,718 Palestinians dead and 163,859 wounded, most of them children and women. Hundreds of thousands were displaced, and a famine claimed the lives of 411 Palestinians, including 142 children.
