Uriel Carmona is remanded in custody for the second time.

Mexico City.  The supervisory judge of the Superior Court of Justice of Mexico City determined that Morelos state prosecutor Uriel Carmona Gandará will remain in prison at the Southern Prison following the second arrest warrant issued against him for the crime of accessory after the fact, following the accusation by the Mexico City Attorney General's Office.

The initial hearing took place in courtroom seven, where the judge ordered preventive detention as a precautionary measure, justified by the possibility that the prosecutor could evade justice because he lacks legal grounds.

The public servant's lawyers requested a duplication of the constitutional term, so it will be decided next Wednesday whether he will be prosecuted for the crime of concealment by favoritism.

Attorney Gabriel Regino, who joined Carmona's defense team, stated that his client's arrest is a political kidnapping by the Mexico City Attorney General's Office. Despite his immunity and the fact that a collegiate court will determine his immediate release, the Mexico City agency responded by "requesting a new arrest warrant, which was granted within 14 minutes. There is no precedent in the city's criminal history for an arrest warrant to be issued in such a short time."

The lawyer also asserted that Ariadna Fernanda's death is not a femicide, "it's a fabrication, and we will explain why."
