Utilization of KCN marine space is encouraged to provide socio-economic benefits

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is encouraging PT Karya Citra Nusantara (KCN) to utilize marine space to provide tangible benefits, not only from an economic perspective, but also from a social and environmental perspective.

Fajar Kurniawan, Director of Marine Spatial Planning Control at the Directorate General of Marine and Marine Spatial Management at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, emphasized in Jakarta on Friday that the construction of the KCN port in Cilincing must provide both economic and social benefits.

"We will encourage KCN to develop in the future, and we want every activity that utilizes marine space to have a positive impact, not only economically but also environmentally and socially in the surrounding area," Fajar said.

Fajar emphasized this in a clarification from the Central Government and PT KCN regarding the concrete embankment in the waters off Cilincing, Marunda, and its impact on fishermen. The embankment is part of the port development structure in the area.

According to Fajar, in the process of issuing the Marine Spatial Utilization Activity Conformity Approval (PKKPRL) permit, KCN must ensure that activities not only meet technical and spatial planning aspects, but also pay attention to the ecosystem and the lives of the surrounding community.
