Central Java surpassed its previously set target for the 2025 National Martial Arts Games (PON) after securing 25 gold, 34 silver, and 51 bronze medals.
"Our initial target was only 24 gold medals. However, by the final wushu event today, Central Java had won 25 gold medals, so we feel the Central Java contingent has achieved its target," said Central Java contingent leader Soedjatmiko in Kudus on Sunday.
Wushu presented five gold medals, thus lifting Central Java to fourth place.
DKI Jakarta took the top position with 42 gold, 27 silver, and 30 bronze medals, followed by West Java and East Java.
Central Java wushu sanda assistant coach Imam Tauhdi Regananda said the four gold medals in the sanda category had exceeded the initial target of only three gold medals.
