Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital (Wamenkomdigi) Nezar Patria said the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Roadmap is designed to balance AI technological innovation and protection from the risks it poses.
"In this AI roadmap, we are striking a balance between innovations and protection against potential risks," Nezar said when met at the Ministry of Communication and Digital's office in Central Jakarta on Friday.
The data consolidation effort is outlined in Circular Letter (SE) from the Minister of Communication and Digital No. 5 of 2025 concerning Requests for Data on Training Programs and Competency Certification in the Digital Sector.
This Circular instructs the collection of training data from various parties, including global technology companies, training and certification institutions, local and international edutech companies , and ministries and institutions at the central and regional levels.
He explained that the roadmap will encourage the use of AI in various national strategic sectors, such as health, education, finance, transportation, and others. The document will also outline principles for AI adoption, such as accountability, transparency, and copyright.
"Our passion is to maximize the benefits of AI and minimize the risks that arise," said Nezar.
Nezar said the draft of the National AI Roadmap has entered the finalization stage, along with the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) on the security and safety of AI development and use.
"The draft will be completed this month, but there's another process to go through because each regulation undergoes a harmonization process and other things to ensure it doesn't overlap with existing regulations," he said.
