Fidan: Our goal is to maintain the agreement in Gaza and for a Palestinian authority to take over its administration.

In an interview with a local channel, Fidan warned of the outbreak of another war soon if the two-state solution is not implemented, noting that the genocide has stopped and the illusion Israel has cultivated for years has been dispelled.

He expressed Türkiye's readiness to assume its responsibilities as a guarantor state should the two-state solution be implemented in Palestine, emphasizing that Türkiye's current role is that of mediator to end the war and support the Palestinian cause.

Fidan explained that Ankara is using its close relations with all parties to stop the war on Gaza, noting that "Turkey's role so far has been one of mediation, based on our deep support and belief in the justice of the Palestinian cause."

He continued, "If an agreement acceptable to the Palestinians is reached, we are prepared to fulfill our obligations. Our official position is that if the two-state solution is achieved, Turkey is ready to assume the responsibility of guaranteeing it."

The Turkish minister emphasized that complete trust in Israel is "unrealistic," noting that what matters most is that "the international community be able to impose a real pressure mechanism on Israel to assume its responsibilities."

Last Monday, Egypt hosted the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit, co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and US President Donald Trump, with the participation of leaders from more than 20 countries. The summit saw the signing of the Sharm el-Sheikh Declaration for Peace and Prosperity, which relates to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

The first phase of a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Tel Aviv took effect on the afternoon of October 10, following two years of Israeli genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

The agreement is based on a plan proposed by Trump and was reached by the two parties following indirect negotiations in the Sharm el-Sheikh resort, with the participation of Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar, and under US supervision.

In another context, the Turkish Foreign Minister stressed the need to eliminate the terrorist and colonialist behavior of the PKK/YPG as soon as possible, adding that "the organization has not yet issued any announcement or taken any action indicating that it has abandoned the elements that pose a threat to Turkish national security."

Regarding relations with Greece and Cyprus, Fidan noted that "the only person with the political legitimacy to resolve Turkey's problems with Greece and Cyprus is President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan," while emphasizing that "lasting peace between Turkey and Greece in the Aegean Sea is possible. Let's make it possible."

He continued: "It can also be achieved in the Mediterranean, and on the island of Cyprus, Turks and Greeks can live together as equal, sovereign partners."
