Google Cloud has officially announced a new innovation in Google Drive for Desktop by equipping this service with artificial intelligence ( AI ) to help users avoid the threat of ransomware as a cybersecurity attack that is often found in many sectors.
This AI works automatically to stop file synchronization and allows users to easily recover files with just a few clicks if they are indicated to have been exposed to ransomware .
"AI-based detection and intervention in Google Drive for Desktop is able to identify the main characteristics of ransomware attacks , namely attempts to encrypt files in bulk, then quickly intervene to create a kind of 'protective balloon' outside the user's files before the attack spreads by automatically stopping file synchronization to the cloud ," said Google Cloud Country Director in Indonesia Fanly Tanto, Tuesday (30/9).
With this way of working, AI can ultimately help users avoid ransomware encryption because it damages exposed files and makes them unusable.
