Indonesian women's singles badminton player Putri Kusuma Wardani's progress was halted in the round of 16 of the 2025 Denmark Open after being forced to admit the toughness of Japanese singles player Tomoka Miyazaki through a rubber game 21-15, 12-21, 17-21 in the match at Jynske Arena, Thursday evening WIB.
Putri KW admitted that in this match Tomoka played so solidly that she was able to block a number of attacks that were launched.
"Tomoka played well today. In the first game, I was comfortable, but in the next two games, she was more organized, forcing me to make a lot of mistakes, especially on my serve returns," said Putri KW, as quoted by PBSI.
"Tomoka also held the ball up a lot, allowing me to attack. She was confident in her defense, while I couldn't get my bearings," added Putri KW.
Putri KW, who is the seventh seed in the BWF Super 750 tournament, admitted that she will have revenge against Tomoka when they meet at the 2025 French Open.
With less than a week remaining, Putri KW will now focus on recovering before appearing at the 2025 French Open.
"We'll meet again next week in the first round of the French Open. I definitely don't want to lose again. For the rest of the time, I'm focused on recovery and will learn from this encounter," he said.
