Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir wants proof of achievement when sending two national teams to the 2025 Bahrain Asian Youth Games and the 2025 Riyadh Islamic Solidarity Games.
"We're sending you not to try you out, but because we believe you are the best chosen by this nation," said Erick Thohir at the inauguration and farewell ceremony for the Indonesian team.
The team sent to the 2025 Bahrain Asian Youth Games consists of 123 athletes and 51 officials (coaches, managers, and support staff). Meanwhile, the team competing at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh consists of 38 athletes and 25 officials.
Erick said the athletes competing in the international championship were symbols of the nation striving to raise the Red and White flag in other countries through sports.
Therefore, he wants the athletes to truly demonstrate their best selves from Indonesia. Every athlete, he said, must be ready to face any opponent from any other country.
