Russia bombs station in Ukrainian region of Sumy: passenger train hit, 'dozens injured'
A Russian attack on a train station in Ukraine's Sumy region has resulted in several casualties, regional governor Oleh Hryhorov reported. Ukrainian media reports that at least thirty people were injured.
Hryhorov says the Russian attack targeted the train station in Shotska, in northern Ukraine, and that a train bound for Kyiv was hit. Photos of a damaged train car on fire can be seen in X.
No casualty figures have been released, but the governor said medics and rescue workers are on the scene.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called it a "brutal attack" on X. He posted a video of the destroyed and burning train. "This is terror that the world cannot ignore," Zelenskyy wrote. "Russia takes lives every day."
Zelensky calls on Europe and the United States to stop Russia. "Strong action is needed."
