"We will hand over weapons to the Palestinian state." A Hamas leader: We have agreed to the Trump plan, and its implementation requires negotiations.

In an interview with the Qatari Al Jazeera channel, Abu Marzouk stressed that the movement would hand over its weapons to the future Palestinian state, and that the future of the Palestinian people was a national issue that Hamas could not decide alone.

He added, "We have agreed to the American plan, with its main headings, as a principle," noting that its practical implementation "requires detailed negotiations through mediators."

Abu Marzouk indicated that Hamas "will enter into negotiations on all issues related to the movement and weapons," and continued: "For example, all details related to the peacekeeping force require understanding and clarification."

Abu Marzouk explained that Hamas "will hand over its weapons to the future Palestinian state, and that whoever rules Gaza will have weapons in their hands."

He stressed that "shaping the future of the Palestinian people is a national issue that cannot be decided by Hamas alone," calling on Washington to take a "positive view of the future of the Palestinian people."

Abu Marzouk stated that "there was a national consensus to hand over the administration of Gaza to independents whose authority would be the Palestinian Authority," and emphasized that Hamas is "a national liberation movement, and that the definition of terrorism in the plan cannot be applied to it."

On Friday evening, Hamas said in a statement that it had submitted its response to the Trump plan for Gaza to mediators, announcing its agreement to release all Israeli prisoners, living and dead, and to hand over control of the Strip to a Palestinian body of independent technocrats based on Palestinian national consensus and Arab and Islamic support.

However, she stressed that the future of the Gaza Strip and the rights of the people are matters to be discussed within a Palestinian framework.

Tel Aviv estimates that there are 48 Israeli detainees in Gaza, 20 of whom are still alive. Meanwhile, some 11,100 Palestinians are languishing in its prisons, suffering torture, starvation, and medical neglect, many of whom have been killed, according to Palestinian and Israeli human rights and media reports.

On September 29, Trump announced a 20-point plan, including the release of Israeli prisoners held in Gaza within 72 hours of Israel's acceptance of the plan, a ceasefire, and the disarmament of Hamas.

During a press conference with Trump at the White House last Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that he "supports the Trump plan," believing it "achieves Israel's goals from the war."

This comes amid escalating Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, as Israel continues its extensive military operations aimed at occupying Gaza City and displacing its residents, amid famine and catastrophic humanitarian conditions resulting from the ongoing war.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, leaving 66,288 martyrs and 169,165 wounded, most of them children and women, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 457 Palestinians, including 152 children.
