Apple officially launches web version of App Store

Apple is now introducing a web version of the App Store, giving users a new way to browse apps across all their Apple devices, although it still can't be used to download apps directly from a browser.

The Verge page, Tuesday, reported that MacRumors and 9to5Mac, the apps.apple.com site now displays a new look for the web-based App Store, replacing the old page which previously only contained basic information about the App Store.

While the interface is now more interactive, users can't install apps directly from the site. Apple only provides the option to share an app link or open the app directly in the App Store on the user's device, such as an iPhone or Mac.

This web-based version of the App Store allows users to navigate between app listings for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. It also features a "Today" tab with app recommendations and a feature for sorting apps by categories like productivity, entertainment, adventure, and more.

The updated apps.apple.com site provides drop-down menus for each platform, and includes a Today section featuring app and game recommendations, categories, and Apple Arcade titles.

This web-based App Store also serves as an app search portal. Previously, Apple provided web pages for each app, but these pages weren't easily accessible or searchable except through direct links. Now, users can more easily search and explore apps directly through the web.
