Avoid the risk of heart attack while enjoying the holidays

Holidays should be a time to enjoy family time, but excessive eating, exposure to harsh weather, and increased stress can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease or heart attacks.

Quoted from the Everyday Health page, Sunday, Robert Ostfeld, MD, director of preventive cardiology at Montefiore Einstein said it is best not to consume alcohol if it is not usual, or to avoid consuming too much.

Excessive alcohol consumption can cause inflammation and dyslipidemia, thus worsening coronary artery disease. Repeated episodes of excessive drinking can lead to inflammation, arterial stiffness, and increased blood pressure, thus increasing the risk of heart attack.
