Disney plans to leverage AI on its platforms

Disney CEO Bob Iger has outlined the company's plans to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) support on its platforms in the future.

According to The Verge , Iger expressed the company's enthusiasm for AI on Thursday's earnings call, saying the technology would allow Disney+ to enable viewers to "create" and "watch" short-form AI-based videos.

"There's a phenomenal opportunity to apply AI across our direct-to-consumer platform, both to provide tools that make the platform more dynamic and more engaging for consumers, and to give consumers the opportunity to create on our platform," he said.

As quoted in a Variety broadcast , Iger emphasized the importance of protecting the company's intellectual property in the use of AI technology.

"We've been quite engaged on this with a number of entities, and I hope that ultimately we'll be able to reach an agreement with the industry or companies that will reflect our need to protect intellectual property," he explained.

However, Iger did not mention which AI company Disney had contacted to discuss the matter.
