A new study reveals that eczema sufferers can bathe as often as they like, provided they always keep their skin moisturized immediately afterward.
Quoted from the Everyday Health page, Monday, researchers from the University of Nottingham and its affiliated hospitals created the “Eczema Bath Study” with significant input from people living with eczema.
Scientists randomly divided more than 400 volunteers with eczema into two groups: one group that bathed daily, soaking more than six times a week, and one group that bathed once or twice a week.
The results after four weeks, the researchers found no difference in eczema symptoms between the two groups.
"You are free to choose how often to shower, daily or weekly, without worrying that either option will aggravate your eczema," says Tanya Evans, MD, a dermatologist who was not involved in the new study.
