Enzo Maresca: Chelsea must be disciplined to face Barcelona's style of play
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca emphasized that discipline will be key when the Blues host Barcelona at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League.

He is aware of the significant threat posed by the Spanish champions, particularly through the aggressive attacking style and high defensive line that are the hallmarks of Hansi Flick's team.

"They're an extraordinary team, but we'll give our all to win. Their high defensive line is certainly a factor, but the most important thing is our discipline when we don't have the ball," Maresca said, as quoted on the club's official website on Monday.

Barcelona came into last season's Champions League semi-finals with a reputation as one of the most offensive teams in Europe.

Their combination of aggressive play and the quality of their players has produced many goal-filled matches in recent seasons.

According to Maresca, Barcelona is a team that can always create dangerous chances, so his team must be able to maintain balance throughout the match.

"They score a lot of goals and have a lot of creativity. Therefore, we have to maintain a balance between attack and defense. Positional discipline will be crucial," he said.

Maresca also emphasized that Chelsea must defend collectively and aggressively to contain Barcelona's key players such as Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez, Ferran Torres, and Frenkie de Jong.

"We will defend as a team. They have many world-class players, but we also have quality and will try to win the match," he said.

Chelsea have collected seven points from four league matches this season. Despite losing to Bayern Munich on matchday one, Maresca believes his team is now much more mature.

"We've improved since the Bayern game. Every game is different, and Barcelona has a unique way of attacking and defending. However, I'm confident this team is improving every day," he said.
