Striker Gervane Kastaneer emphasized that he wants to lead his team, Persis Solo, to a comeback in the remaining 2025/2026 BRI Super League season.Quoted from the club's official website, Thursday, Kastaneer explained that he was highly motivated because he had succeeded in leading his country Curacao to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
This has made Kastaneer want to carry this positive momentum with Persis Solo, which is currently in a precarious position in the Super League standings.
"We have to have a good target and we have to work hard. I think this team can still compete and get out of this situation. So I will continue to work hard and have faith in the team to get out of this situation," said Kastaneer.
Persis Solo is currently in the relegation zone, or to be precise, ranked 17th in the BRI Super League standings with seven points from 12 matches.
Next, Persis Solo is certain to aim for victory when they host PSM Makassar in the 14th week of the Super League at Manahan Stadium, Solo, Saturday (29/11) at 19.00 WIB.
Regarding Curacao's success in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, Kastaneer said that this achievement was a matter of great pride for him.
"I think, for a small country, this is a very good result. Nobody believed in us, but we did it. This is the best thing I've ever done," said Kastaneer.
"Of course, everyone wants to represent their country in this World Cup. We have dreams as a small nation, and we believe in the process, even if others don't. And everyone said we couldn't do it. We're a small nation, but we have big dreams; God always shows the way," he said.
