Former world boxing champion from Kazakhstan, Gennady Golovkin, reiterated his determination to restore global public trust in the sport of boxing, including restoring its position in the Olympics, after being officially elected as President of World Boxing at the annual congress held in Rome, Italy, Sunday (23/11).
Quoting the official OCA website, Friday, the Chairman of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Kazakhstan was elected unopposed and immediately emphasized his commitment to bringing stability and credibility to boxing at the international level.
“I came to fight for something important, the future of boxing itself,” said Golovkin.
