Barcelona coach Hansi Flick responded positively when asked about the possibility of coaching Lionel Messi if the Argentine superstar decides to return to the Spanish club."Why not? Messi is the best player of the last 10 years. I've always enjoyed watching him play football, and he would be a perfect fit for any team," Flick told Football Espana on Friday.
Barça will face Athletic Club at Camp Nou on Saturday (22/11) for the first time since its renovation began in 2023.
But Flick said it would not necessarily be the case that he would still be the Barcelona coach if Messi returned to Barcelona.
"Messi's contract (at Inter Miami) ends in 2028, while mine ends in 2027. So this isn't a relevant question at the moment," Flick said.
