After several years of introducing major changes through annual iOS updates, Apple will reportedly change its approach to the iOS 27 operating system by focusing on improving software quality and system performance, instead of introducing a series of flashy new features.
As reported by Engadget on Monday, according to a report by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is focusing on improving the foundations of its operating system while strengthening its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
This move comes after iOS 26 introduced the Liquid Glass design and a number of Apple Intelligence AI features that were deemed not fully mature since its release last year.
Gurman said that Apple's engineering team is currently reviewing the entire operating system to trim elements deemed burdensome, eliminate bugs, and look for opportunities to improve overall performance and quality.
