WhatsApp has launched a short status update feature that functions similarly to Instagram Notes, allowing users to share short texts that their contacts can see.
This new feature allows users to write what they are doing, share updates, or provide an explanation for why they can't reply to messages.
WhatsApp says this feature can also be used as a conversation starter.
As reported by Tech Crunch on Monday, WhatsApp explained that the "About" feature was actually the app's first feature. Before focusing on being a secure and private instant messaging app, WhatsApp once provided a space for users to share short status updates like this.
