Jojo performed poorly and chose to refresh his mind ahead of the World Tour Finals.

Indonesian men's singles player Jonatan Christie admitted his performance fell short of expectations after being eliminated in the first round of the 2025 BWF World Tour Super 500 Australian Open and stressed the need to refresh his mind before appearing at the BWF World Tour Finals.

Jonatan, who came to Sydney as the top seed, lost to Japanese representative Yushi Tanaka with a score of 17-21, 7-21 at Quaycentre, Olympic Boulevard, Wednesday.

The match was a tough one from the start, with Jonatan struggling to develop his game and frequently missing opportunities when trying to catch up.

"Today was far from what we had planned. We played poorly and couldn't improve," said Jonatan in an official statement from the Indonesian Football Association (PP PBSI).

In the first game, he managed to narrow the gap to close to Tanaka's score, but several unforced errors ended the momentum.
