Meta has announced a "third-party chat" feature for WhatsApp users in the European Union (EU) as part of its compliance with the interoperability requirements of the bloc's Digital Markets Act (DMA).
GSM Arena reported on Sunday that this feature requires Meta to give WhatsApp users in Europe the option to connect with people using third-party messaging services whose apps can also be operated.
WhatsApp will launch a third-party chat feature in Europe in the coming months, allowing WhatsApp users to chat directly with users of messaging apps like BirdyChat and Haiket.
