Meta investment of Rp10 quadrillion in the US, focused on AI data centers

Meta has announced an investment plan of US$600 billion, equivalent to Rp10 quadrillion, in the United States by 2028, much of which will be focused on building artificial intelligence (AI) data centers.

"At Meta, we're focused on developing the next generation of AI products and building personal superintelligence for everyone. Data centers are a critical component to achieving that goal and helping America maintain its technological edge," Meta said, as quoted by Engadget on Sunday.

The term “ superintelligence ” used by Meta refers to the potential for AI development to surpass human cognitive abilities.

The same investment value was previously mentioned by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg at a White House dinner with the heads of major technology companies last September.

However, the moment became a public spotlight after a hot mic recording showed a conversation between Zuckerberg and United States President Donald Trump.

"Sorry, I'm not ready yet. I'm not sure what number you want," Zuckerberg told Trump, referring to the investment figure.
