The management of Persik Kediri, East Java, has not yet determined a replacement for coach Ong Kim Swee, after the management ended its collaboration with the Malaysian coach.
"Just wait, we definitely have a candidate and we will announce it in the near future," said Persik Kediri Owner Arthur Irawan in Kediri, Friday.
He declined to elaborate further on whether Persik's coaching candidate would be from within the country or abroad. He only emphasized that management was still discussing the matter and would announce it soon.
Regarding ending the collaboration with coach Ong Kim Swee, Arthur said that management did not dismiss the person concerned.
This decision was taken because the person concerned was on state duty in Malaysia and wanted to be close to his family.
" Coach Ong is no longer in Kediri. I emphasize that this is not a dismissal. If I still have options, I'll give 100 percent to Coach Ong until the end of the season and long-term," he said.
