Sacramento Kings basketball player Domantas Sabonis has been forced to miss three to four weeks of the 2025-2026 NBA season after being diagnosed with a partial meniscus tear in his left knee. The NBA website said Saturday that the basketball player suffered the injury during the Kings' 110-123 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, an early game last week.
"We're not happy about it, I feel bad for him because we need him, but that's the risk of this job," said Sacramento Kings coach Doug Christie.
An MRI scan revealed a partial tear, requiring the 28-year-old to undergo a period of recovery and his condition will be re-evaluated in three to four weeks.
Sabonis' absence is a major blow for the Kings, who are slumping to 3-12 (win-loss) and have lost seven straight games, all by double-digit margins.
This season, the 2.11-meter-tall center has averaged 17.2 points per game (ppg) and 12.3 rebounds per game (rpg) in 11 games.
