The fifth edition of the Sompo Student Tournament officially opened at the ASIOP Training Ground Sentul, Bogor, Saturday, with the women's group competition enlivened.
The competition, which took place on November 22-23, was attended by a number of figures such as Technical Director of PT SOMPO Insurance Indonesia Erixon Hutapea and Project Director of the SOMPO Student Tournament Ruthania Martinelly, and Persija Jakarta goalkeeper Andritany Ardhiyasa.
This edition of the tournament featured 32 men's teams, including participants from outside Greater Jakarta for the first time, with Batam being a newcomer. In the women's category, eight teams participated in its debut event.
"With such a large number of participants, this tournament is excellent for developing soccer skills and character building," said Erixon Hutapea.
He hopes that the event will produce talents who can later become part of the ASIOP program and the national team.
