The Minister of Communication and Digital reminded young people to use the internet to boost productivity.

Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid reminded the public, especially the younger generation in villages, to use internet access to boost the productivity of leading sectors in their regions.

He conveyed this when inaugurating the Internet Village program in Sragen Regency, Central Java, which opened 87 internet access points in two villages, namely Sribit Village and Tlogotirto Village.

"We hope that when internet access reaches these villages, it will be utilized for things that increase the productivity of key sectors in the surrounding areas. So, that's our mandate, especially to young people, to utilize this for productivity," said Meutya in Sragen Regency, Central Java, on Wednesday.

For example, in the agricultural sector and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) which are the leading economic sectors in Sragen Regency.

He cited the example of farmers in Sragen Regency using Internet of Things (IoT) technology to cultivate rice and melons. This has increased agricultural efficiency and productivity, resulting in better quality harvests.

"Fertilization has been reduced to 50 percent of the usual requirement, making it much more efficient. We hope that internet use can be focused on productive activities and not on negative ones," said Meutya.
