The Sragen Regency Government provides free internet for 22 poor villages.

The Sragen Regency Government (Pemkab) has provided free internet access for 22 priority poor villages to become internet villages.

Sragen Regent Sigit Pamungkas explained that his administration has a priority program to provide free internet access to villages categorized as poor. The Sragen government is targeting 61 impoverished villages to become internet villages.

"In Sragen Regency itself, we prioritize poor villages to become free internet villages. There are 61 poor villages and in those villages we prioritize free internet. Now there are 22 poor villages that we have free internet access for," said Sigit at the inauguration of the Internet Village in Sragen Regency.

Sigit said the program had received a positive response from the younger generation, who could now access the internet more easily and without having to pay.

"Young people who say (comment) it's good because the internet is free. So they don't need to buy credit anymore, they can gather at certain points to take advantage of the free internet," he said.

Sigit believes that utilizing the internet and digital technology can be a solution to problems in strategic sectors in the region, especially in agriculture.

"We've proposed a special allocation of funds for agricultural areas because we're not allowed to convert agricultural land to industrial land. If we can't convert, that means our progress will be relatively slow," he explained.
