Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid said that as many as 250,000 residents of Sragen Regency, Central Java, are now using the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) payment method in their daily lives.

"Given the active user ratio, it is estimated that more than 250,000 Sragen residents now use QRIS in their daily economic activities," Meutya said in Sragen Regency, Central Java, on Wednesday.

He further explained that innovation in the digital economy sector has now reached rural communities. He cited the example of Sribit Village, where 35 percent of residents actively use QRIS in their economic activities.

QRIS users in the region are generally traders at Tambak Market, agricultural product sellers, bamboo craftsmen, and home business owners.

"(QRIS users) are now not only selling around here (Sribit Village), but also outside the area," said Meutya.
