Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid emphasized that protecting children in the digital space is a government priority, considering that 60 percent of the 220 million internet users in Indonesia are young people.
"So, if we protect this 60 percent, the entire digital ecosystem will be healthy. We are confident that we can direct this 60 percent to use the internet responsibly, because the key to a safe internet is young people," Meutya said in Central Jakarta on Friday.
Meutya said public concerns about children's safety in the digital space are increasing, particularly due to the rise in digital crime cases arising from the influence of digital platforms, including games.
The government, he said, continues to collaborate with gaming industry players to create a child-friendly gaming ecosystem in the country.
"Because if public trust is lost, the games and the gaming industry will also be hit," he said.
